The computers offered by CMIT Solutions are selected based on the best compromise of price, performance, reliability, availability and longevity of use (ie. "Best Bang for your Buck"). Our recommendations provide excellent performance and are built on the latest technology to support many years of dependable operation. Essentially, computers we would buy ourselves!
We base our recommendations on the following criteria:
- Brand name with a reputation for quality and a well supported warrantee as many true hardware failures occur in the 1st few months due to build, processing or shipping failures
- Models designed for professional use (vs consumer) which hold up better over time and in harsher environments
- For Windows Computers: Systems based on Windows 11 Pro (vs Home Edition) which offers more advanced features and tools for professional use including enhanced security, device management, and connectivity options
- Contains at least 16 GB of RAM / Memory as this frequently makes more difference to operational speed than a higher processor (especially when frequently switching between multiple applications)
- Is based on the latest generation of mid-to-high range processors, associated memory, chip sets, etc.. Using the latest technology provides excellent performance today AND tends to maintain a more robust operation over a longer period of time. Lower cost alternatives usually include older generation chip sets resulting in a slower computer that becomes dated before its time. With the hundreds of varieties of processors and chip sets available on the market differentiated by nothing other than a few numbers and letters on every part number for every piece of the technology used in a computer. One letter on the end of one part number for one chip used in a computer can mean 1/2 the power & speed of a similar system. It is difficult for most people to know what they are truly purchasing without extensive hours of research.
- Include both wired Ethernet (Ge or higher) as well as WiFI (WiFi 6/6E or higher) to support the connectivity you may need regardless of where you use the computer over its lifetime
- Support for 4K or higher resolutions and multiple monitors using any combination of the latest technology versions of USB-C, Display Port, HDMI
- As many USB ports of multiple types using the latest technology. Not only do you want to support the number of devices you may want to connect, each type of connector may support different standards. Example: USB-A with USB 2.0, USB-C with or without power delivery and version 3.2 or now 4.0... Once again, the number of versions available are numerous and hard to differentiate without research (ie. USB 3.2 alone supports 4 different combinations of speed x lanes supporting bandwidths from 5 Gbps to 20 Gbps)
- Desktop Computers: Small or Micro Form Factor as it allows a choice of easy placement locations either on or under a desk
NOTE:
Buying a low cost "consumer grade" product offering with older generation chip sets can save you significant up front costs but frequently results in the need for additional external add-ons to support all of the connectivity you need and rarely last more than a few years before needing to be replaced due to either hardware failure or becoming too slow to run the latest software. Meanwhile it can cost you time and money every day you use it due to the extra time it takes to accomplish your tasks.
Let CMIT Solutions take the worry and time to research the infinite number of computer choices available off your shoulders and make selecting an excellent computer for you or your staff safe, easy and affordable.
